Every year on the last Monday of May, we take the time to honor and remember those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Their bravery, sacrifice, and service will always be remembered. Memorial Day began in the late 1860s and was originally known as Decoration Day. This day of rememberance became an official federal holiday in 1971.
