On February 16, 2026, we’ll be celebrating President's Day, otherwise known as “Washington’s Birthday,” which is the official title of the federally recognized holiday. President George Washington, the first US President, was born on February 11, 1731. The day of celebration was changed to the 3rd Monday in February in recognition of the 1968 UInfirom Monday Holiday Act passed by Congress. While some states celebrate the thirdy Monday in February as “Presidents Day,” the official federal holiday continues to be known as Washington’s Birthday*.
