American Flag Retirement Boxes at PFCU

Did you know? The flag of the United States is a symbol of freedom before which Americans recite the pledge of allegiance. The flag's 13 red and white stripes represent the 13 original colonies. Its 50 white stars on a blue background represent the 50 states.

When an American flag becomes soiled, faded, and tattered, it should be destroyed, preferably by burning, according to the United States Flag Code. Flags should not be disposed of in trash or recycling.

PFCU has retired flag containers located in each branch lobby. You are invited to bring your American Flags ready for retirement to the location nearest you from May 19th - June 14th.

All flags will be given to a local Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) branch for proper flag retirement ceremonies.
